The field of political theory has changed dramatically in recent years, as the international and global dimensions of contemporary life have driven political inquiry beyond its traditional domestic boundaries. The Journal of International Political Theory (JIPT) aspires to enhance the possibilities for the development and exchange of ideas regarding political theory into the realm of international and world affairs, and encourages innovative theoretical engagement with a wide array of issues including human rights, global social justice, world order, armed conflict, peace, neocolonialism, climate change, international history, and globalization. 
International in coverage and broad in scope, the Journal of International Political Theory is committed to theoretical and philosophical diversity in the study of international political thought. JIPT welcomes submissions that focus on individual thinkers, particular social and political concepts (such as justice, power, equality, sovereignty, hegemony, freedom, responsibility, dialogue, and democracy), and various schools of thought (such as liberalism, feminism, cosmopolitanism, poststructuralism, realism, postcolonialism, critical theory, and comparative political theory). JIPT asks contributors to draw out the international or global implications of the theories or ideas concerned.The Journal of International Political Theory invites submissions from diverse approaches across disciplines including political theory, philosophy, international relations, legal studies, the history of ideas, sociology, and cultural studies. Through a rigorous process of initial editorial screening and subsequent double-blind external peer review, JIPT publishes theoretically guided articles and thematic symposia contributing to the burgeoning scholarship on international political theory.

Political socialization theory and research focus on processes by and structures through which individuals become or do not become politically active and acquire or do not acquire general political knowledge, and particular political beliefs, opinions, attitudes, emotions, values and behavioral intentions.  
 
 
 
The focus of attention is on political socialization processes – including political education, information, persuasion, marketing, or propaganda and their underlying and accompanying motivations – and political socialization structures – including the family, school, mass media, peer groups, social networks, and politics.  
 
 
 
Politics, Culture and Socialization publishes new and significant contributions that report on current scientific research, discuss theory and methodology, or review relevant literature. Die PERIPHERIE befasst sich aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive mit Politik, Ökonomie, Kultur und Gesellschaft in der ungleichen kapitalistischen und post-kolonialen Welt. Sie fordert und fördert die kritische Auseinandersetzung und Diskussion zwischen Nord und Süd, zwischen Wissenschaft und Bewegung, zwischen Theorie und Praxis. Die Artikel diskutieren Themen wie Globalisierung, Demokratisierung, ökonomische und ökologi­sche Krisen oder Rassismus sowie Geschlechter-und Klassenverhältnisse.  
 
 
 
Die PERIPHERIE ist ein Forum, das mit theoretisch fundierten und empirisch gesättigten Beiträgen detailliertes Wissen um Zusammenhänge in den Peripherien in die aktuellen und allzu oft nur aus der Perspektive der Metropolen geführten Globali­sierungsdiskurse einbringt. Die Grundhaltung der Redaktion ist herrschaftskritisch, und die weltweite Stärkung emanzipativer Bewegungen ist ihr ein wichtiges Anliegen. Sie veröffentlicht Originalbeiträge, die nach dem double-blind Peer-Review-Prinzip begutach­tet wurden.  
 
 
 
Der Name PERIPHERIE geht auf das Begriffspaar Zentrum und Peripherie zurück, mit dem sich die Möglichkeit eröffnet, Prozesse von Verarmung und Ungleichheit im geographischen Süden und Norden strukturell zusammenzudenken. Dieser Ansatz ist aus Sicht der Redaktion in der über 30jährigen Geschichte der Zeitschrift aktuell geblieben, auch wenn weitere Konzepte und Theorierichtungen als sinnvolle Ansätze und alternative Perspektiven hinzugetreten sind.
